All lanes reopen on WB 401 in Whitby after collision

Police said the collision occurred near Brock Street and cleanup efforts are currently underway.

All of the westbound lanes of Highway 401 have reopened in Whitby after a transport truck’s diesel tank ruptured during a collsiion.

Police said the collision occurred near Brock Street.

No injuries were reported.

CP24 Traffic Specialist Lisa Morales said the highway was “jam-packed” in the area as a result of the collision.

“There is a potential environmental issue so they are taking precautions,” she said.

In an update at around 4 p.m., provincial police confirmed all of the lanes at Brock Street have reopened.
