Toronto police are searching for three women who allegedly stole an undisclosed quantity of cash from someone they met through an online classified ad.
Police said they were called to the area of Yonge Street and Gerrard Street West on the evening of March 29.
At around 3:30 a.m. that day, police said the victim contacted a suspect through an online classified ad and arranged to meet with them at a hotel.
When they arrived at the victim’s hotel room, police say a woman mixed something into their drink that caused them to feel “unwell.” It is unclear what substance was used.
The suspect allegedly escorted the victim to a black Dodge Durango, which was occupied by two other female suspects.
Police said they grabbed the victim’s phone and made as many e-transfers as they could to themselves before the limit was reached.
When they hit that cap, police said they took the victim to an ATM to withdraw more money before dropping the victim off at a hotel in the area of University Avenue and Adelaide Street West.
Investigators believe there may be more victims and shared photos. They did not provide suspect descriptions.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
