Second man charged in 2025 Toronto homicide, third suspect still wanted

A Brampton man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Scarborough last year.

In a news release Toronto police say officers responded to a shooting at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025, in the Sheppard Avenue East and Brimley Road area.

Police say the victim and multiple suspects had attended an establishment before becoming involved in a physical confrontation.

Investigators allege the suspects then “brandished a firearm” and shot the victim. Life-saving measures were performed at the scene before the victim was rushed to hospital.

As a result, 42-year-old Yueyuan Dong, of Woodbridge, died weeks later on Oct. 19. His death marked Toronto’s 35th homicide of 2025.

On Saturday, April 4, 2026, 29-year-old Kye-Shawne Griffiths, of Brampton, was arrested and charged with second degree murder.

He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre earlier today at 10 a.m.

Police say Kai Chen, 30, of Markham, remains outstanding and is also wanted for second degree murder.

A third suspect, Donald Keeshig, 29, previously turned himself in to police and has also been charged with second degree murder.

The investigation is ongoing.
