Police say they are investigating a crash in Hamilton that left one man dead, a toddler critically injured, and two women with serious, life-altering injuries.
The collision occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the area of Woodburn and Binbrook roads.
Police said the male driver of a 2020 Dodge Ram was heading south on Woodburn Road and failed to stop at the intersection when he collided with a 2018 Ford Edge, which was heading eastbound on Binbrook Road.
The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to come to rest in a nearby field.
Four occupants were in the Edge at the time of the crash, including a man who was sitting in the front passenger seat. He was rushed to hospital but later died of his injuries.
An 18-month-old child was also critically injured in the crash and is currently in hospital in stable condition, police said.
The female driver and a female passenger suffered serious, life-altering injuries, according to police.
The driver of the Dodge Ram was taken to hospital and is in stable condition.
Police said charges are anticipated in the crash and members of the collision reconstruction unit continue to investigate.
“Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who was in the area at the time with dash camera footage or surveillance video, to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-546-4753 or reconunit@hamiltonpolice.ca,” police said in a news release issued on Wednesday morning.
