A trendy American breakfast sandwich chain with an eyebrow-raising name is coming to Toronto.
Eggslut, originally launched in L.A. in 2011, will be opening two locations in downtown Toronto, the first in what the brand calls a “structured Canadian expansion”.
The first Canadian Eggslut location will open on King Street West at the end of April, while a second outpost is set to launch near Yonge and Dundas streets later this summer.
For those who might not know, “eggslut” is a colloquial term for a person who enjoys adding eggs to every meal.
Aside from its cheeky name, the restaurant franchise is known for its brioche-bun breakfast sandwiches, which feature eggs made in different styles, like soft scrambled or coddled.
”Eggslut started with a simple idea: take something familiar and make it exceptional," Eggslut Co-owner Andy Lee said in a news release. “From a food truck in Los Angeles to a global following, we’ve stayed focused on quality, consistency, and intention. Toronto is a city that truly shows up for food, and we’re excited to introduce Eggslut to the market and let the food speak for itself.”
The Toronto locations will source ingredients from Ontario-based suppliers, like Burnbrae Farms, which will provide the restaurants’ namesake eggs.
The chain also has locations in the U.K., Japan and Australia.
