Police say emergency crews provided ‘life-saving measures’ to the baby, but the infant later passed away in hospital. CTV News’ Sean Leathong reports.

Toronto police said that a baby found in the back of a vehicle on Monday has died in hospital.

Fire, ambulance, and police responded to calls in the area of Queen Street East and Pape Avenue for a baby who was unresponsive in the back of a vehicle.

Duty inspector Scott Bradbury told reporters that the child was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, where they were treated by doctors.

“I’m saddened to report that this child has unfortunately passed away, and we are in the early stages of our investigation,” he said.

The child’s parents were at the hospital, he added.

Police said they won’t be sharing any more details at this time.
