A six-year-old boy has been pronounced dead and two others are fighting for their lives in hospital after a passenger vehicle and a pickup truck collided in Ontario Sunday.

The collision happened in Mulmur, Ont., about 100 kilometres northwest of Toronto.

Ontario Provincial Police said they were called to the intersection of County Road 17 and County Road 19 following reports of a “serious” two-vehicle collision around 1:30 p.m.

According to police, a passenger vehicle carrying six people and a pickup truck with a lone driver collided.

“As a result of the collision, a 6-year-old male was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased,” OPP said in a news release.

Two others – a 30-year-old man and a two-year-old child – were air lifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck and additional passengers from the other vehicle were all transported to hospital with unknown injuries, OPP said.

The cause of the collision is not yet known.

Investigators are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage to reach out to the OPP or to call Crime Stoppers anonymously.
