A previous version of this article stated this incident happened in Scarborough. — A broken water main in Etobicoke saw water gushing approximately 10 feet in the area early Monday morning, according to Toronto Fire.

Firefighters were called to the area of Neilson Drive and Dundas Street West at around 4:15 a.m.

“The break occurred in the existing watermain, which is being replaced as part of the city’s watermain replacement project,” Jennifer Graham Harkness, the city’s Chief Engineer and Executive Director of Engineering and Construction Services said in a statement.

City crews are still on site, Harkness says, and nearby properties have not reported flooding.

Harkness adds, however, that one property in the area is currently experiencing a disruption to their water service. She said that the city is “aiming to restore” the water to that home by the end of day on Monday.

“Clean up and restoration is on track to be completed by end of day today,” Harkness said.
