Hamilton police say they are searching for a suspect who escaped custody early Thursday morning.
According to police, at around 1 a.m., officers were conducting an investigation in the area of Main Street East and Grant Avenue.
Police said they located 18-year-old Sultan Aldarwish, who was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with a release order stemming from shoplifting charges.
“Aldarwish was handcuffed when he escaped police custody,” Hamilton police said in a news release.
“Hamilton Police mobilized numerous officers and a K9 Unit to search the area.”
Investigators say the last confirmed location for the man is Barton Street East and Leeming Street and officers are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact Hamilton police.
