Lower level of Scarborough mall evacuated after pepper spray deployed: police

Part of a mall in Scarborough was evacuated after pepper spray was deployed during a robbery on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency services responded to Bridlewood Mall in the area of Warden Avenue and Finch Avenue East for reports of an altercation, during which pepper spray was used.

Police said the lower level of the mall was cleared out as a result.

In a subsequent update, they said the incident was a non-retail robbery and the investigation is ongoing.

No injuries were reported and the mall has since been aired out.
