A man has died following a collision between a school bus and a sedan Friday afternoon.
According to Ontario Provincial Police, officers responded at about 12:05 p.m. to Mayfield Road, west of Innis Lake Road, after reports of a serious collision involving a school bus carrying eight occupants and a passenger vehicle.
Police said the driver of the sedan, a 78-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, Peel Regional Paramedics transported the school bus driver to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said none of the eight occupants on the bus were physically injured.
The cause of the collision is unknown.
Mayfield Road remains closed between Airport Road and Innis Lake Road as a result of the collision as the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit (TTCI) conducts its investigation.
