A male in his teens was rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a stabbing on the grounds of a Brampton High School on Friday morning.

Peel Regional Police said officers were called to Brampton Centennial High School, near Main Street and Steeles Avenue, at 8:24 a.m. Upon arrival, they found a male in his teens suffering from stab wounds.

It’s unclear whether the stabbing took place inside or outside the school building.

Paramedics transported the victim to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Police said the suspect fled the scene but was arrested a short time later. Police are describing the incident as isolated in nature.

The school was placed under a lockdown following the incident while nearby Bishop Francis Catholic School was put under a hold-and-secure order as a precaution. Both measures have since been lifted.

The investigation is ongoing.
