Another suspect has been arrested in the 2023 shooting death of a 36-year-old man, who was the brother of an internationally recognized Toronto poet and musician.

Toronto police announced the arrest in an update on Thursday.

Mohamed Ahmed was found suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle in a parking lot near Sherbourne and Shuter streets on the afternoon of July 25, 2023.

Ahmed was pronounced dead at the scene. The 36-year-old was the older brother of Mustafa Ahmed, an internationally recognized Toronto poet and musician formerly known as Mustafa the Poet.

In a news release on Thursday, Toronto police announced that 34-year-old Mohamed Abdullahi was arrested by Belleville police.

He has been charged with first-degree murder.

Abdullahi is the second suspect arrested in Ahmed’s murder. In Nov. 2025, police arrested Yasir Mohamed.

He was also charged with first-degree murder and other firearm-related offences.

Both suspects were previously in the Top 25 list of Canada’s most wanted fugitives.
