It is officially May but Toronto appears to be “locked in a pattern” that will see an extension of April showers and cool overnights for at least a few more days, CP24 Meteorologist Bill Coulter says.
The temperature dipped to a low of 2.9 C in Toronto on Friday morning and Coulter said that residents in some outlying areas may have woken up to frost.
A frost warning remains in effect for the GTA with Environment Canada warning residents to expect near-freezing temperatures again tonight.
Coulter said that temperatures will reach a high of 10 C on Friday and 9 C on Saturday but drop to around 0 C in the overnight hours.
Sunday will be slightly warmer with sunny skies and a high of 12 C., though Coulter says that some models are pointing to later afternoon showers to end the weekedd.
“It (the cold) will continue tonight and tomorrow night and then we start to pull out of the depth of cold and head toward smore seasonable values,” Coulter promised.
Right now, Environment Canada is forecasting more seasonable temperatures to start the week with daytime highs of 17 C on Monday and Tuesday.
The typical daytime high at this time of year is 16 C with overnight lows normally not dropping below 7 C.
