A 34-year-old man is facing charges after a pedestrian was struck and killed in Hamilton earlier this year, police say.

The collision occurred near Barton Street East and Kenilworth Avenue North on Feb. 9, claiming the life of a 70-year-old woman.

Following an investigation, officers determined that charges were warranted and on April 30, the driver of the vehicle, identified only as a 34-year-old Hamilton man, was charged with one count of careless driving causing death under the Highway Traffic Act.

He is scheduled to appear in court in June 2026.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Hamilton Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-546-4753 or by email at reconunit@hamiltonpolice.ca.
