Toronto police say that 16 schools throughout the city have received bomb threats that are believed to have been made by the same individual.
Police say that there is no evidence to suggest that the threats are credible.
Bruce Jr. Public School in Leslieville and St Augustine Seminary in Scarborough were briefly evacuated on Tuesday morning as a result of the threats.
Police say that officers cleared both schools and students and staff subsequently were allowed back in.
In a statement, TDSB spokesperson Ryan Bird said that “a number” of the board’s schools “received bomb threats via phone from what is thought to be the same source.”
“While Toronto Police have no evidence to suggest these are credible threats, we take them very seriously,” he said. “We continue to support our schools and are sharing updates with parents at directly impacted schools as needed.”
Police say that they are actively investigating the threats.
