Truck rollover, oil spill closes ramps from Hwy. 427 to EB Hwy. 409 during morning rush hour

Published:

Hwy. 427 ramps to Hwy. 409 face closures after a transport truck rollover and oil spill.

A transport truck rollover and oil spill led to the closure of both the southbound and northbound ramps of Highway 427 to eastbound Highway 409 throughout the morning rush hour on Wednesday.

The driver involved in the collision, which occurred shortly after 11 p.m., suffered only minor injuries, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said.

It took crews hours to clean up the spill and the ramps were not reopened until after 9 a.m.

“Your best bet right now (is to) take Dixon as well as the 401,” Traffic Specialist Meital Sperling said earlier on Wednesday morning.

“It is really going to jam things up as the morning progresses.”
