E-scooter rider struck by vehicle in North York suffers life-threatening injuries

Police say a man in his 60s was hit by a car in North York earlier today when he was riding an e-scooter.

A 63-year-old man is in hospital in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while riding an e-scooter in North York on Saturday afternoon.

Toronto police said the collision happened in the area of Sheppard Avenue West, near Kodiak Crescent, shortly before 2:30 p.m.

Toronto paramedics told CP24 that the man was taken to a trauma centre with serious, possibly life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle, a 55-year-old man, remained at the scene, police said. He was operating a box truck also westbound on Sheppard Avenue West at the time of the collision.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation.

Traffic Services is investigating.
