Fire at Toronto home for seniors leaves 1 person critically injured

CP24’s Courtney Heels has the latest on the ‘significant response’ by Toronto emergency crews after a building fire left one person with critical injuries.

One person suffered life-threatening injuries following a fire at a downtown facility for seniors late Sunday night.

According to Toronto Fire, the blaze broke out at at building located at Yonge and Carlton streets shortly before 10 p.m.

Officials say the fire was found in a unit on the eighth floor and was person was rescued from the apartment.

The person was rushed to hospital in critical condition, Toronto Fire said.

The fire was knocked down but crews are holding the scene for further investigation.
