Line 6 will be closed this Victoria Day weekend for system upgrades and FIFA World Cup preparations, while early nightly closures are also coming to Line 2 this week.
In a press release, the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) and Metrolinx said Line 6 Finch West will be closed over the Victoria Day weekend for system upgrades and preparations related to the FIFA World Cup.
The closure on Line 6 Finch West will begin Friday at 2:30 a.m. and continue until Tuesday, May 19, at 4 a.m. Replacement shuttle buses will operate along Finch Avenue West during the closure.
According to Metrolinx officials, the planned closure was scheduled in part to prepare for increased ridership ahead of the FIFA World Cup and other major events in the city.
“The work has been strategically scheduled to prepare the line for increased ridership demand during upcoming major events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup,” Metrolinx said in a statement.
Line 2 closing early starting on Monday
Line 2 Bloor-Danforth, meanwhile, will see early nightly closures beginning Monday due to planned track work.
From Monday to Friday, subway service between St. George and Woodbine stations will end at 11:59 p.m. each night. Shuttle buses will be running on surface routes..
