Police are warning the public of an “abandoned off-leash dog” that attacked and killed a small dog in Toronto on Tuesday.

According to police, an off-leash dog attacked a small breed dog and its owner at around 4:10 p.m. in the area of Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West.

According to police, the small dog was killed and the owner suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say the attack was “unprovoked.”

The off-leash dog has been described by police as a brown pit bull mix. Images of the dog have now been released.

“Officers are working with Toronto Animal Services, and efforts are being made to locate the dog,” police said in a news release issued Tuesday.

Anyone who spots the dog is being asked not to approach it and to call 911 immediately, police said.
