Police are investigating an incident in Scarborough that sent a child to the hospital and resulted in the arrest of a woman on Tuesday morning.

Toronto police media relations officer Const. Stephanie Miceli said they responded to a call in the area of Midland Avenue and Steeles Avenue East shortly after 9:30 p.m.

A child was transported to the hospital, “where they remain,” Miceli said in an email to CP24.

She did not say the circumstances that led to the child being hospitalized. There is also no immediate word on the child’s condition.

Meanwhile, Miceli said a female was taken into custody and “the charge list is still being finalized.”

It is unknown if the female is related to the child.

Images from the scene show police tape surrounding a home and cruisers parked outside.

“There is no further information available at this time,” Miceli said.
