3 suspects arrested, 2 outstanding after assault, robbery at Toronto hotel: police

Toronto police say three suspects have been arrested and two others are wanted in connection with an assault and robbery at a hotel in the city’s downtown core.

According to police, it happened at a hotel in the area of Bay Street and Adelaide Street West at around 4:30 a.m. on April 25.

Police said a man was waiting in line to check into a hotel and the suspects were ahead of him in line.

“A verbal altercation between the victim and the suspects turned physical,” police said in a news release.

The group, police allege, assaulted the victim and stole his personal property. Police did not say what was taken from the victim.

The suspects fled from the area prior to the arrival of officers, police said.

Three suspects were arrested and charged in connection with the assault, including 30-year-old Piraveen Jegathesvaran, of Whitby, Gurman Bhandal, 25, of Caledon, and 25-yeear-old Harneet Dhindsa, of the Town of The Blue Mountains. They have each been charged with robbery and assault causing bodily harm.

A fourth suspect has been identified by police as 32-year-old Oakville resident Nadeem Ali, who has not yet been apprehended.

Police are also searching for a fifth suspect, who has not been identified.

Investigators released images of the two suspects wanted by police in connection with the investigation.
