A 37-year-old woman accused of murdering her daughter one month shy of her second birthday at their Scarborough home made a brief court appearance on Thursday.

Wearing a green sweatshirt and glasses, she was unemotional and expressionless as her lawyer asked for an adjournment while he awaited disclosure of evidence from Crown prosecutors.

Her next appearance is on May 26, also by video.

The toddler was found by police and paramedics without vital signs inside their home in the area of Midland Avenue and Steeles Avenue East on Tuesday morning.

Police said Cho’s father, who was not at home at the time, made the 911 call.

Paramedics were able to revive her and take her to the hospital, but police said Cho died the next day. She is the city’s eighth homicide victim of the year.

Police have not disclosed the cause of death or the motive.
