Durham police say a man is fighting for his life in hospital after a head-on collision in Clarington, Ont.

Emergency crews were called to Trulls Road, north of Prince Rupert Drive, shortly after 12 p.m. on Sunday for a crash involving a pickup truck and an SUV.

Police said the 63-year-old driver of the pickup truck was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition.

The 48-year-old driver of the SUV, and their two passengers, were also transported to hospital but have since been released.

Trulls Road was closed for several hours for an investigation. Police said it appears that the collision was potentially the result of a medical episode.
