One man is facing charges after he allegedly struck an attendant at an Ontario gas station while attempting to flee the scene without paying.

It happened on May 13 at a station in the village of Mansfield, which is near Orangeville.

Police say that the suspect, who was driving a black Ford SUV with an attached camper trailer, filled up the vehicle and then attempted to flee after not paying.

The gas station attendant attempted to intervene and stop the suspect when he was struck by the vehicle, police say.

They were later airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital with serious injuries.

The suspect, meanwhile, fled the scene.

A day later, OPP officers located a suspect along with the SUV and trailer used in the initial collision.

Police said they deployed a spike belt to disable the vehicle, prompting the suspect to flee on foot into a wooded area.

After conducting an “extensive search” officers found the suspect, and took him into custody.

Darbara Singh, 53 of Brampton, was charged with multiple offences including two counts of possession property obtained by crime over $5,000, theft, dangerous operation causing bodily harm and fail to stop at accident resulting in bodily harm.

The victim remains in stable condition and police are asking for anyone who may witnessed the incident to contact police.
