Man arrested after thefts at Hamilton cemetery

Police believe that approximately 40 vases were stolen from multiple grave sites

A man has been arrested after dozens of vases were stolen from grave sites at a Hamilton cemetery.

The thefts occurred at White Chapel Memorial Garden Cemetery between April 17 and April 21, police said.

Visitors reported that multiple vases placed at the grave sites of loved ones were missing and investigators later determined approximately 40 had been stolen.

Following an investigation, members of the Hamilton Police BEAR Unit arrested 51-year-old Jason Mcintosh, of Hamilton, on May 13.

He has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of proceeds of crime and operation while prohibited.

Police said multiple stolen vases were recovered and will be returned to the affected families.
