A historic baseball caught by a Toronto Blue Jays fan during the team’s 2025 post-season run is now up for auction.

The ball in question was caught during Game 2 of the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees in October.

With the bases loaded, Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a 95.8-mph fastball from Yankees pitcher Will Warren high into second deck of Rogers Centre.

The hit marked the first post-season grand slam in Blue Jays’ history.

Now, the baseball is currently listed on the Goldin Auctions website, with an opening bid of US$1,000.

Brendan Craig, who caught the ball, told CTV News a day after Game 2 that he had originally purchased standing-room tickets before switching to seats in the upper deck shortly before the game.

“The person I bought the tickets from… his pitch to sell them was that it was a good spot for a Vladdy bomb,” Craig said. “So he did say that ahead of time, which is kind of a full-circle moment.”

After the hit, Craig leapt from his seat, caught the ball in mid-air, followed by a moment of disbelief.

“I was looking at the people in the rows behind me and beside me and we were all kind of like, ‘No way. Did that just happen?’ And then we all kind of got in a big huddle. We were screaming and excited,” he said.

“But I didn’t realize at the time it was the first post-season grand slam in the Jays’ history. That just makes the moment all the more cool to be a part of.”

Craig said that by the end of the game he had taken about 200 photos with fans, who also bought him drinks and congratulated him on the catch.

He also described the atmosphere in the stadium as intense.

“You could feel it,” he said. “Clement hit that early homer and that ignited the park, and then they just kept pouring it on after that. Just such a cool atmosphere.”

The auction is scheduled to end in 17 days, according to information on the listing.
