Commuters are being reminded that GO trains will not run along the Barrie line during two busy weekends for Toronto events.

Metrolinx confirmed that GO buses will replace Barrie line train service at all stations except Downsview Park GO and Union Station both this weekend and next weekend, citing major track upgrades.

“These track closures are required to make essential improvements that will support faster, more frequent GO service as part of GO Expansion,” said Metrolinx in a Saturday notice.

Bruno Mars is set to perform at Downsview Park on Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, next Saturday and next Sunday. The latter date was rescheduled from this Saturday due to rain.

Additionally, the Toronto Blue Jays continue their home series against the Pittsburgh Pirates this weekend.

Fans are urged to plan ahead.

“We understand that closures and service changes are disruptive. Weekend service disruptions are scheduled months in advance to accommodate work to improve and maintain our transit system,” continue Metrolinx. “These closures provide the crew with the continuous access they need to safely complete major construction that can’t be done overnight.”

Metrolinx confirmed that GO buses will run between Allandale Waterfront GO and the Highway 407 bus terminal, and that there will be no GO Transit service at Downsview Park or Union Station. The temporary bus schedule may differ from the regular train schedule.

Customers travelling southbound to Downsview Park from the Highway 407 bus terminal are urged to take TTC Line 1 south to Downsview Park Station.

“We’re working hard to keep customers informed, provide alternatives where possible, and complete this work as quickly and safely as we can,” concluded Metrolinx.
