A wave of warm, sunny weather is in the forecast for Toronto after the city was drenched in heavy rainfall this weekend.

Monday is calling for a high of 23 C as skies clear later this morning.

The temperature will climb to 28 C on Tuesday and remain in the double digits until Sunday. Mostly sunny conditions are expected throughout the week, except for a 30 per cent chance of showers on Wednesday.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the city and much of the surrounding area on Saturday before 30 to 50 millimetres of rain dropped on the region.

On Sunday, Toronto Fire said it responded to 672 emergency incidents over a 24-hour period and Toronto Hydro said over 145 power outages were reported.
