Authorities continue the search for a missing person after two people went into the water after their inflatable boat capsized near Cherry Beach.

A man is in hospital and another remains unaccounted for after a boat overturned in Lake Ontario on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened in the vicinity of Cherry Beach, which is near Unwin Avenue and Cherry Street.

Emergency responders say they were called to that area around 1:45 p.m. for reports of a small inflatable boat that had capsized.

Toronto police said the Marine Unit rescued a man in his 40s from the water. His injuries are being described as non-life-threatening.

Investigators later said a dog was also retrieved from the water.

Meanwhile, a search commenced for a second man who went missing after the incident.

The search was halted in the evening due to darkness, police said.
