1 person rescued, search continues for another after boat capsizes near Cherry Beach

Published:

Authorities continue the search for a missing person after two people went into the water after their inflatable boat capsized near Cherry Beach.

One has been taken to the hospital serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries, say paramedics, as the search continues for a second person after boat overturned in Lake Ontario on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened in the vicinity of Cherry Beach, which is near Unwin Avenue and Cherry Street.

Emergency responders say they were called to that area around 1:45 p.m. for reports of a small inflatable boat that had capsized.

Toronto police say the Marine Unit rescued a man in his 40s from the water.

A second individual is still missing.

Toronto fire and paramedic services are also on hand assisting with the search.

More details to come. This is a developing story.
