Three people have been charged in connection with a planned kidnapping in Markham, police say.
Police began an investigation on May 21 after learning that a suspect had affixed a tracking device to a vehicle parked in a plaza near Masseyfield Gate and Steeles Avenue as part of a planned kidnapping.
Investigators say that a suspect vehicle was identified and was observed returning to the same plaza the following the day.
At that point, police contained the vehicle. Two suspects attempted to flee the scene but were arrested following a short foot pursuit.
Police say that a third suspect in the planned kidnapping was taken into custody on Wednesday.
Toronto residents Donald Smith, 30, Tenzin Tsegyal, 25 and Yeshi Tendar, 25, are facing a combined 10 offences, including conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
Police say that the investigation into the planned kidnapping remains ongoing.
