20-year-old Mitchel Hunter charged by peel police.

A man from Woodstock Ont. who is awaiting trial for a fatal Brampton crash is facing new stunt driving charges after he recently got caught speeding in Mississauga.

In a news release, Peel Regional Police say they spotted a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed near Winston Churchill Boulevard and Argentia Road at about 1 a.m. on May 23.

Police say a traffic stop was conducted and charged 20-year-old Mitchel Hunter with:

  • Stunt driving
  • Speeding – 102 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone
  • Fail to surrender driver’s licence
  • Drive motor vehicle contrary to emissions regulations

Police say Hunter also received an immediate 30-day driver’s licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment.

The new charges come while Hunter is already awaiting trial on criminal charges stemming from a fatal collision in Brampton in November 2024.

In that instance, police previously charged him with:

  • Dangerous driving causing death
  • Dangerous driving causing bodily harm (two counts)

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
