Police investigating homicide after North York brawl leaves pedestrian fatally struck by vehicle

Police are investigating after one person was struck by a vehicle at the scene of a large fight near Wilson and Keele.

A homicide investigation is underway after a person was struck and killed by a vehicle during an early-morning brawl with a “large group of people” in North York.

Toronto police say officers were called to the Keele Street and Wilson Avenue area at approximately 6:01 a.m. following reports of a large group of people fighting.

Investigators say one person was struck by a light-coloured vehicle, which fled the scene before officers arrived.

In an update, police later confirmed the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A second person was also transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

The Homicide Unit has since taken over the investigation.

Police have not released any suspect descriptions and the circumstances leading up to the fatal collision remain under investigation.
