Man who died after being found unresponsive in a west Toronto laneway was murdered, police say

A man who was pronounced dead after being found unresponsive in a laneway in Toronto’s west end has been identified by police and a homicide investigation is now underway.

Toronto resident Isaiah Peters Alexander, 28, is the city’s 15th murder victim of 2026.

On Friday, at around 2:15 a.m., Toronto police responded to a medical complaint call near Eglinton Avenue West and Yarrow Road.

There, officers found an unresponsive male was found in a laneway.

Police said emergency services arrived on scene and performed life-saving measures.

The male was then taken to the hospital by paramedics and pronounced deceased.

His death was determined to be suspicious by police.

Through the investigation, it was determined that the male had been shot, investigators said.
