Police have identified the man who was killed while crossing the road in Toronto’s west end last month.
It happened overnight on May 31, in the Forest Hill neighbourhood, near Old Park Road and Eglinton Avenue West.
Investigators say a 23-year-old, driving a Honda Accord, was heading westbound on Eglinton Avenue West when he collided with a male pedestrian who was crossing from the north side of Eglinton to the south side.
Emergency crews performed life-saving measures, but the pedestrian died at the scene. The driver of the sedan also remained on hand.
Earlier this month, investigators released a composite sketch of the deceased in hopes of identifying him.
In a news release issued Tuesday, Toronto police said they identified the man, saying only that he was 66 years old.
Duty Insp. Errol Watson told reporters at the time that the incident was “incredibly heartbreaking.”
“Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time,” he said.
