Man in his 20s taken to hospital following stabbing in Etobicoke

A man who Toronto police initially said was shot in Etobicoke Tuesday night is a victim of a stabbing.

Toronto police said they were called shortly after 6:30 p.m. to the area of Scarlett Road and Scarlettwood Court, north of Eglinton Avenue West, for a shooting.

Officers located an adult male victim, who police said had been shot.

However, in a later update on Tuesday night, police revealed that their investigation determined that the victim, a man in his 20s, was stabbed.

Toronto paramedics told CTV News that the victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a trauma centre.

Police said the suspect or suspects had already fled before officers arrived. No descriptions have been released.

Police added that they have a large presence in the area for the investigation.
