One person injured, suspect in custody after downtown Toronto stabbing

A suspect is in custody after a person was stabbed in Toronto’s downtown core late Friday night.

In a post to social media, officials from Toronto police say officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the Gerrard Street East and Yonge Street area at approximately 10 p.m.

When officers arrived, they say they located the victim suffering from injuries. The victim was then transported to hospital by Toronto paramedics.

Police say the victim’s injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

A suspect was taken into custody at the scene, though police have not released their identity.

The investigation is ongoing and officials are asking anyone with information to contact police.
