Three people were rushed to trauma centres after a four-vehicle crash in Brampton early Sunday morning, including one person who has potentially life-threatening injuries, police say.

Officials say the collision happened at around 1 a.m. on Steeles Avenue at the northbound Highway 410 ramp, according to Peel Regional Police.

Police say three people were transported to hospital. Two are reported to be in stable condition, while a third suffered potentially life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the collision has not yet been released.

As a result of the crash, Steeles Avenue is closed in both directions at the Highway 410 ramps. The northbound off-ramp from Highway 410 to Steeles Avenue and the southbound on-ramp from Steeles Avenue to Highway 410 are also closed.

Drivers are being asked to use alternate routes as the investigation continues.
