TPS releases safety plan ahead of Pride weekend

Multiple roads will be closed as Toronto celebrates LGBTQ2S+ Pride today with several events hosted by Pride Toronto in the downtown core.

Some closures began as early as Thursday and will remain in effect until Monday.

Pride Street Fair

The Pride Street Fair has resulted in multiple road closures in the Church-Wellesley Village neighbourhood.

The Pride Street Fair began on Friday. As a result, Church Street will be closed to all vehicle traffic from the north side of Dundas Street East to the south side of Hayden Street. Wellesley Street East will also be closed between Yonge and Jarvis streets.

Those closures will begin at 8 a.m. Friday and remain in effect until 7 a.m. Monday.

Pride Parade

Toronto’s annual Pride Parade will begin assembling at 8 a.m. Sunday on Rosedale Valley Road, with additional road closures taking effect throughout the day as the parade moves through the city.

Closures beginning at 8 a.m.

  • Rosedale Valley Road from Park Road to Bayview Avenue

Closures beginning at 11 a.m.

  • Church Street from Yonge Street to Bloor Street East
  • Park Road from Rosedale Valley Road to Bloor Street East
  • Asquith Avenue from Yonge Street to Park Road
  • Collier Street from Yonge Street to Church Street

Closures beginning at noon

  • Bloor Street West from Bay Street to Ted Rogers Way
  • Yonge Street from Church Street to Queen Street East
  • Dundas Street West from University Avenue to Victoria Street
  • Bay Street from Queen Street to Dundas Street

All roads are expected to reopen at approximately 8 p.m.
