Bo Bichette will return to Toronto tonight as the Blue Jays look for their first win since last week.
The former Blue Jay signed a US$126 million, 3-year contract with the New York Mets via free agency in the off-season.
The 28-year-old spent his entire MLB career in Toronto before signing with the Mets. His return to Toronto comes amid a six-game losing streak for the Blue Jays, which was punctuated by a four-game series sweep by the Texas Rangers.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who came up with Bichette through the Jays’ minor league system, is still looking for his first home run of the season. He went 0 for 9 in the final two games of the Rangers series.
While the Mets have had struggles of their own this season, Bichette is on a seven-game hit streak, with 10 homers and 46 RBIs.
First pitch goes at 7:07 p.m.
