Police update media about an overnight armed home invasion in Brampton that left one person with serious injuries.

Peel police are investigating an overnight armed home invasion in Brampton that left one person with serious injuries.

Emergency crews were called to Estateview Circle and Rae Avenue, near Goreway Drive and Castlemore Road, shortly before 4 a.m.

Paramedics say one person was seriously injured and transported to hospital. Their injuries are considered to be non-life-threatening.

Speaking to reporters at the scene, Const. Moulika Sharma said at least two suspects are believed to have entered the residence, before an altercation broke out inside and shots were fired. Multiple people were inside the house at the time of the break-in.

Asked about the injury, Sharma said that an adult woman sustained an injury to her foot, which was not a gunshot wound.

Sharma said the incident is believed to be targeted and there is no threat to public safety.

No suspect descriptions have been released by police.
