Two boys in hospital, one in serious condition following e-scooter crash

Two 12-year-old boys are in hospital, one in critical condition, after an e-scooter crash in Etobicoke.

Two 12-year-old boys were taken to the hospital, one in serious condition, following an e-scooter crash in Etobicoke on Friday afternoon.

The crash happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. near Dundas Street West and The East Mall. According to police, the pair were riding an e-scooter when they lost control.

Paramedics took both boys to the hospital. Police said one suffered life-threatening injuries, while the other sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A spokesperson with Toronto police Traffic Services told CP24 that it was an unfortunate incident.

The circumstances that led to the crash are unknown. The spokesperson said it is unclear whether the two boys were wearing helmets at the time.

The East Mall is closed in both directions between Vickers Road and Coronet Road.
