New video shows what appears to be a high-speed race involving a white Mercedes and a green Lamborghini that ended in a serious multi-vehicle collision in Scarborough, leaving two people with life-threatening injuries.
The crash happened shortly after 9 a.m. on Highway 2A near Meadowvale Road in Scarborough’s Highland Creek and Port Union neighbourhoods.
In the video, provided to CTV News Toronto, the Lamborghini can be seen swerving around a vehicle while the Mercedes narrowly trails behind.

A second angle of the same video also shows that when the Mercedes made the lane change, its driver was unable to maintain control and slams into the back of a passenger vehicle.
Police initially said multiple vehicles were involved and closed the eastbound lanes of Highway 2A at Lawson Road while investigators examined the scene.
Speaking to reporters at around 1:30 p.m., Traffic Services Insp. Dan Pravica said that two vehicles were observed racing and were travelling at a high rate of speed before the collision.

“A white Mercedes and a green Lamborghini were observed to be racing at a high rate of speed eastbound on Kingston Road,” Pravica said. “At one point in time the vehicle was merging into traffic and the Lamborghini was able to evade it. The Mercedes was not. The Mercedes then struck this vehicle and went off the road.”
Police said three vehicles were involved in the collision, and Pravica noted that the Lamborghini driver did not stop after the crash.
In a news release on Friday afternoon, Toronto police said the Mercedes lost control and struck a third vehicle, which they identified as a white Ford F-150 pickup. The white Mercedes then left the road and collided into a tree, police said.

“The Lamborghini failed to remain at the scene of the accident,” Pravica said.
Toronto police said the two occupants inside of the pickup truck—a 44-year-old man and an 11-month-old boy—were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
They add that the driver of the Mercedes, who is a 15-year-old girl, and a 24-year-old male passenger were rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
An adult and a young child suffered minor injuries, while another adult and a teenager sustained serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.
Investigators continue to search for the Lamborghini and are asking anyone with dash camera footage or information about the collision to contact police.
