Police have charged a Toronto man and an Ajax woman after a 27-year-old victim was allegedly trafficked into the sex trade, and investigators believe there may be additional victims.
In a news release, Toronto police said its Human Trafficking Unit began an investigation into the alleged offence in March.
Investigators said the victim was transported to different locations to meet clients to perform sexual services through a combination of “deception, coercion and control.”
Any money the victim made was allegedly surrendered to the accused and kept by them.
Police arrested 30-year-old Toronto resident Nygel Wright in connection with the investigation. He’s facing 12 charges, including material benefit from sexual services, forcible confinement, and assault.
Kristin Hendren, 34, of Ajax, was arrested and charged trafficking in persons, procuring/exercising control, and material benefit from sexual services.
