Saturday will start off mainly cloudy in Toronto before showers and the risk of thunderstorms move into the region later in the day, with more widespread rain expected on Sunday.
Environment Canada is forecasting a high of 28 C on Saturday, with a humidex of 34 making it feel significantly warmer. There’s also a 30 per cent chance of showers late in the afternoon, along with the risk of a thunderstorm.
According to the national weather agency, showers are expected to become more widespread overnight Saturday, with the risk of a thunderstorm continuing into the evening before rain sets in after midnight.
Sunday is shaping up to be the wettest day of the long weekend, with periods of rain, a risk of afternoon thunderstorms and rainfall amounts between 15 to 25 millimetres. Environment Canada is forecasting a high of 24 C, with northeast winds increasing to 20 km/h and gusting up to 40 km/h in the afternoon.
“Showers intensify late evening and continue in waves overnight. Sunday will bring more rounds of showers and storms that will last through evening,” CP24 Meteorologist Bill Coulter said on Friday.
Finally, by Monday, conditions are expected to improve, with skies clearing and a high of 26 C, making for a much more favourable end to the weekend following periods of rain.
