The 2026 edition of Brampton’s Jambana One World Festival has ended early.
The annual one-day event, which this year was held at Brampton Sports Park, near Kennedy Road South and Highway 407, was scheduled to wrap up on Monday night at 8:30 p.m.
Just before 7 p.m., Peel Regional Police (PRP) posted a now-removed note on X saying that Jambana has been “shut down.”
In a follow-up post, they posted the following update:
“Police, working with Jambana event officials, confirm that the event concluded as scheduled at 8:30p.m. Due to capacity concerns and to ensure public safety during dispersal, the public is being asked to avoid the area and not attend. Officers remain on scene to support an orderly exit, and no major incidents have been reported.”

Peel EMS, meanwhile, said they weren’t called to the park on Monday evening.

‘Youth starting fights and trampling people’: attendee
One festival attendee, who asked CP24 to not use her name due to safety concerns, shared the following:
“What started as capacity concerns quickly turned into youth starting fights and trampling people,” she said.
“I originally spoke with two officers about why these youth were not being escorted out, they said they were working on it.”
The woman said she then watched seven police officers walk with what appeared to be “with no urgency” after a swarm of kids who were again fighting and running through the crowd.
“I have never seen anything like this before. Security nor the police had control at any point. Youth were rushing the fence to get in,” she said.
“It was very frustrating with what I perceived as lack of action from security and police. Not sure what the answer is anymore but unfortunately these community events are getting out of hand.”
Jambana is billed as a celebration of Emancipation Day with music, vendors, family fun, and a taste of the Caribbean.
This year’s festival got underway at 1 p.m. and was hosted by Master T and Tanya Mullings. It featured Glen Washington Exco Levi and High Priest, Joshua Lucas, Kairo McLean, Pan Masters, Tonya P, DJ Rych Kydd, The Future Collective, and Yendi Songbird.
