Toronto’s police chief says arrests have been made in the Salsa on St. Clair shooting last month.
Two men were killed and multiple others were injured following an exchange of gunfire in the middle of the Salsa on St. Clair festival on July 11.
Chief Myron Demkiw was asked about the incident at an unrelated news conference on Thursday.
“I appreciate the opportunity, given that Taste of Danforth is coming. I can tell you that late yesterday evening, I’ve been advised there have been arrests made in that investigation,” he said.
The police chief said a press conference will be held on Friday to confirm more details about the investigation.
The victims in the shooting have been identified as Shaquan Quashie, 25, and Cesar Vernaza, 20.
The deadly shooting sparked concerns about public safety at major events in the city and police have repeatedly said that there will be more officers visible at big events in Toronto going forward this summer.
