Event organizer falsely identified City of Mississauga as partner in online listing, officials say

Published:

The City of Mississauga says it is not affiliated with two events that have falsely listed the it as a partner in promotional material online.

In a news release, the city warned that two Eventbrite listings for the “International Conference on Leadership, Innovation, Global Investment, & Professional Development (ICLIGP)” at the Malton Community Centre on Sept. 2, 2026 and Nov. 30, 2026 falsely identified the City of Mississauga as a partner.

“The City is not affiliated with these events, and no booking exists for this at any City facility,” the news release read.

“Online promotions for these events have falsely used the City’s name and branding authorization.”

Officials warned that residents should research the event organizer and check the city’s events calendar before registering for any event.

“If you’re unsure whether an event is affiliated with the City, visit mississauga.ca or contact 311,” the news release read.
